38 people arrested as animal rights acitivists protest in Melbourne
38 people have been arrested after animal rights activists took part in a peaceful protest in Melbourne.
Hundreds of activists took to the streets disrupting commuters and calling for animal liberation at Melbourne’s Central Business District.
News.com.au reporred that one man started jumping up and down and was detained while protesters sat in a circle in the intersection.
They could face charges of “obstructing a roadway.”
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said of recent activism at abattoirs in Australia:
“It is shameful, it is un-Australian. This is just another form of activism that I think runs against the national interest, and the national interest is being able to farm their own land.”
