$50,000 given to meat research group to look at issues including 'animal welfare'
The Foundation for Meat and Poultry Research and Education has been given $50,000 to look at issues such as food safety, animal welfare and worker safety.
The money was granted to the non-profit from The Smithfield Foundation.
Susan Backus, president, Foundation for Meat and Poultry Research and Education said:
