BAFTA award-winning film director and stars among highlights at vegan festival
The director and stars of the BAFTA award-winning documentary 73 Cows are set to appear at one of the biggest vegan events of the year.
73 Cows will be shown at VegFestUK Brighton followed by a question and answer session with farmers Jay and Katja Wilde and the film’s director Alex Lockwood.
The film picked up a BAFTA award last month for Best Short Film and tells the story of Jay Wilde who ran his family farm until he and his partner Katja decided to give their cows to a sanctuary and become plant-based farmers.
Speaking to BAFTA after winning the award Alex Lockwood said:
"It's all a bit surreal at the moment, we are just a bit in shock. This is a film all about his emotions and his feelings and his decision to give all of his cows to a sanctuary.
“It's a massive time for veganism and environmentalism but still to us it's a shock, we thought we would get a bit of a push from that community and we'd get a few thousand views and get into a few festivals, it's just surreal."
The Q&A will take place in the Radical Veganism room and will be hosted by VGN co-founder Tom Lane.
VegFestUK Brighton will see a number of food stalls, talks and cookery demos and takes place at Brighton Centre on 23rd and 24th March.
