Bakery chain Greggs receives finance boost following vegan sausage roll launch




British bakery chain Greggs has seen sales rise significantly since the start of the year.


It follows the launch of their "vegan sausage roll" which has received a lot of media attention, including criticism from the likes of Piers Morgan.


Sales across the company have surged 14.1 percent in the first seven weeks of 2019, with the new plant-based product among the top-five performing products.


Greggs said:

"The rate of growth has eased slightly in February but the strength of trading is likely to have a material impact on the first-half result for 2019.
"Overall the board now anticipates that 2019 full-year underlying profit before tax (excluding exceptional charges) is likely to be ahead of its previous expectations."
