Cow shot dead by police after being found distressed on motorway
Police in Northumbria have confirmed they “destroyed” a cow after it was found distressed on a motorway.
Three other cows were rescued from the road near the area called Cowgate.
Northumbria Police conformed the news on Twitter yesterday.
“Officers are dealing with an incident in Cowgate of loose cows on the CME.
“Three cows have been brought to safety. One cow was found in a distressed state and due to the potential risk to the public and motorists, the animal has been destroyed by officers at the scene.”
Local newspaper Chronicle Live confirmed that police had shot the cow n the central motorway in Newcastle.
