Finland finance ministry urges EU to consider banning Brazilian beef following Amazon fires
Finland’s Ministry of Finance has urged the European Union to consider banning the import of Brazilian beef.
It follows a huge rise in wildfires in the Amazon rainforest, with animal agriculture being partially blamed through controlled burns.
Finland currently holds the European Union’s chairmanship.
In a statement Finland’s finance ministry said:
“Finance Minister Mika Lintila condemns the destruction of Amazon rainforests and suggests that the EU and Finland should urgently review the possibility of banning Brazilian beef imports,”
