Squirrel hunting season in Georgia “great way to introduce young people to hunting”
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources have announced that squirrel hunting season will begin today.
Hunters can to kill up to 12 gray or fox squirrels per day during the season.
In a press release Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division said it “provides the first opportunity of the year to start replenishing that meat in the freezer.”
The hunting season lasts until February 29, 2020.
John Bowers, chief of the Wildlife Resources Division Game Management Section said:
“Hunting squirrel is part of a significant cultural hunting tradition in Georgia.
“It’s fun and doesn’t cost a lot to get started, and really gives you a great opportunity to introduce a young person or someone new to hunting.”
