Testimony to be heard ahead of New York fur ban decision
Lawmakers in New York will hear from anti and pro-fur speakers over proposals to ban the sale of new fur.
Anti-fur activists will be at City Hall to support Intro 1476 from this morning.
The Committee on Consumer Affairs and Business licensing will consider the ban with testimony from both sides.
State Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, told CBS:
“Cruelty should not be confused with economic development.
“Fur relies on violence to innocent animals. That should be no one’s business.”
New York City would be the largest city in the U.S. to ban fur following in the footsteps of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
A poll earlier this week revealed around 75% of voters in New York supported the ban.
