UN-backed report says the world must ditch meat to tackle climate change
A new report backed by the United Nations has urged the world to move towards a plant-based diet.
The report looked at ways to target climate change.
The Creating a Sustainable Food Future report recommends moderating ruminant meat consumption and linking agricultural intensification with natural ecosystems protection.
Johan Rockstrom, former director of the Potsdam Institute of Climate Change Impact Research, said:
“To have any chance of feeding ten billion people in 2050 within planetary boundaries, we must adopt a healthy, plant-based diet, cut food waste, and invest in technologies that reduce environmental impacts.”
