Vegan version of pub snack ‘pork’ scratchings believed to be UK first
A start-up company is set to launch “vegan pork scratchings” in what is believed to be a UK first.
Pork scratchings are a bar snack, with this version to be made with soya.
The scratchings are expected to go on sale later this year.
Co-creator Sean Johnson told The Guardian:
“It is a is dirty meat substitute that tastes like it’s going to be bad for you, but isn’t actually that bad at all.
“It even has a dual texture so you have both the softer ‘fat’ bit you get in a scratching, as well as the crunchy ‘skin’ layer
